As we discussed yesterday, so many people (who used to be myself included) can become paralyzed in pursuing their calling because they’re so afraid of taking the “wrong step.”
Their hearts are in fact SO pure, with a healthy fear of the Lord, that instead of flowing in the direction they feel like God has given them a green light for, they just do nothing.
Have you been there?
To make this really black and white that you’re actually “doing great sweetie,” I’ve written out some definitions for us!
Taking it back to 3rd grade, which we need sometimes!
Lust of the Flesh →
Comes from 1 John 2:16:
“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”
Lust always comes with pride, selfishness, and other “anti-fruits” of the spirit as I like to call them. Read below to see how different they are, and how you can confidently move towards your dreams, knowing that they’re in alignment with God’s blessing.
13-18 Setting The Scene
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
[LUSTS] → (vs 19-25)
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
[GOOD FRUITS] → (vs 22-25)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Okay, so now that we’ve read that… what do you think?
As you pursue this desire of yours… What fruit shows up? Do you sense a ton of strife, does it push you away from God or godly people? Or does it make you love God more, be more effective for His kingdom, no matter what industry you’re called to?
The great news is, God will always tell you. He isn’t the author of confusion, the devil is. (1 Cor 14:33) He loves to bring clarity through His voice! So lean in, let the Word read you, and revelation light will continue to shine brighter and brighter as He lights your path! (Psalm 119:130)
So who’s committing to taking ACTION today!? I am! God loves you and wants the desires of your heart to come to pass, just like you do.
See you tomorrow!
