DAY 20: “Declarations of Blessing”

“There is no survival of the soul (mind, will, and emotions) without God’s Word.”

It’s the day after Thanksgiving!  Are you still full of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie? Have your relatives gone home? How did you do? Did you thrive or just… survive?

Even if the food was great, (hopefully the company was too), if we want to make it through the Holidays, we need to remember that natural food is good, but spiritual food is even more important! There is no survival of the soul (mind, will, and emotions) without God’s Word. We need a daily supply to nourish and sustain us.

Deuteronomy 8: 3: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but man lives by every WORD that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.”

John 6:63: “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”

Words have power. They can create, destroy, uplift, or tear down. Declaring the Word of God out loud, we can set things in motion for us and our families and set the tone for the rest of the Holiday season. We can declare blessing and life over our households!

Psalm 103: 20-21 says: “Angels heed the voice of God’s Word” (as it is spoken by the saints on Earth). That means we even have helpers in this! As we declare and decree God’s Word, angels minister on God’s behalf. They hearken to God’s Word and do His bidding!

We have a list of declarations that we speak over ourselves and our family. They change from season to season and sometimes by circumstance. We take the scripture and tailor it to the situation. God’s Word does not return void. His promises are “yes” and “amen” to those who believe.  I have seen God move mountains when things looked impossible.  As we stood on the promises of God and declared them out loud, (sometimes with the faith of a mustard seed), God was faithful.  His Word is true! He is the same yesterday, today, and evermore!

Here are some daily decrees that we have used. I encourage you to find ones that specifically speak to your household. Turn them into prayers. Write them down and give a copy to everyone so you can be united in your declarations. Speak them daily. You will set the tone for the next 28 days not only making the rest of the year wonderful,  but into 2022 as well!

Declare at least once a day:

  1. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15 KJV  (We have this verse hanging over our fireplace. It is made out of metal).
  2. “Through skillful and godly wisdom, a house (a life, a home, a family) is built, and by understanding it is established (on a sound and good foundation). And by knowledge shall the chambers (of every area) be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” – Proverbs 24:3-4 AMP (I like the AMP version for reading. I have this in the NIV version hanging on my wall in the dining room.)
  3. “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.” – Isaiah 54:13 KJV
  4. “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.” – Colossians 3:14-15 NKJV
  5. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32 NIV
  6. “If angry, beware of sinning. Let not your irritation last until the sun goes down; and do not leave room for the devil.” – Ephesians 4:26-27 (You may have to declare this one more than once.)
  7. “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:16 NIV
  8. “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” – Colossians 4:6 NIV (A good one for when guests are in the house.)
  9. “And you shall serve (worship) the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.” – Exodus 23:25 NKJ

I love the NLT translation of Luke 11 2-4. Jesus said: “This is how you should pray: ‘Father, may your name be honored; may your Kingdom come soon. Give us our food day by day. And forgive us our sins—just as we forgive those who have sinned against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.’”

Let this be our prayer today and every day! Declare, believe, and receive all God has for you this Holiday season!

Shalom,

Mama Swan
