Ever since I was a little girl, growing up with two parents in ministry, it was a well-known fact that salaries accumulated to less than what you could probably make working at Burger King. Yet, despite literally zero role models of wealth or financial success, I had an inherent desire to be prosperous.
Whether it was telling my parents I would be like Britney Spears or Christina Aguliera making millions as a famous pop star (as we called it in the 90’s), or somehow believing that the United States would develop (suddenly) a monarch of which I was the queen, I was confident. Way too confident.
Lemonade stands were the norm during the summer, where I’d collect enough money to buy myself a Toy at Toys-R-US (RIP), if only I could have driven myself. (What a hassle, at seven.) Regardless, I felt on top of the world.
But the most iconic “Megan-moment” as my family now affectionately calls my “where-in-the-world-did-this-come-from-boldness” was when we were at the peak of traveling the country as a family with our music, and out of nowhere, at the ripe age of eleven years-old, I came up with “THE TRI-PACK.”
My parents had just released their third CD, and I asked them if we could sell all three together for a discount of $5.00, bringing the grand total to $40.00 instead of $45.00. A steal, if you ask me.
Honestly, I probably did it without even asking them first, and after selling several, thought that my proof-of-concept was good enough to bring to my bosses.
I didn’t even ask for a cut for being such a great saleswoman! Wow, how humble of me. (lol)
So there I was, hustling my buns off at eleven, making people happy that they saved money, while I made my family money that we really needed.
So what’s my point? While I would later find out that I indeed was very much called to the business world as a mountain of influence and calling God had for me, did you know that the Bible talks more about finances, blessing, and prospering His children more than almost any other subject in the Bible?
Now before you turn your ears off, I’m not saying everyone can just snap their fingers and be a millionaire, or that God’s just going to help you win the lottery, but what I AM saying, is that He hates seeing His children in poverty, just like He hates seeing His children sick.
So how do we do this? Well, according to the Word, we meditate on the Word day and night!
Why does this work? Well, where do you think the wisdom for successful ideas come from? Yes! Plugging into the Vine, Jesus, who is the Word!
In fact, I can’t tell you how many ideas for my companies I’ve gotten from getting in the Word. Or going for a walk with Jesus and spending time in meditation and prayer.
God wants His kids BLESSED! They are, after all, a reflection of Him!
And Heaven isn’t paved with trash, it’s paved with GOLD!
So today, what can you ask God about your future? What can you ask Him about how He can take you to a better place of success? Strife isn’t from Him, and as we all know well, financial strife is one of the WORST kinds of stress imaginable.
I’m excited to see how your time seeking this with the Lord goes! And excited for ALL He has for you! If a little girl with parents in ministry selling TRI-PACKS can do it, so can you.
Blessings and favor to you!
