Phew, that was a lot of theology! Thank you so much for sticking with me – I have so enjoyed my time with you all! To close out our week on spiritual gifts, I wanted to point our attention to the most discussed and referred to gifts in the bible. The FIVE FOLD MINISTRY gifts, which we’ll be focusing on today.
What This Is Referring To:
PASTOR – means Shepherd, has a deep empathy and care for the “flock” of sheep. Big hearts for people. Student of God’s word. “Sheep” are drawn to talk to and learn from them.
PROPHET – A “seer” gift. One whom God gives revelation knowledge of the future and present to, through words of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding from Heaven. Intercessors of heaven.
EVANGELIST – One who feels a call and has an anointing through Jesus to see souls won for the Lord.
APOSTLE – Digs the ground of impossibility. Entrepreneurial. The foundation of what the church is built on. Visionaries that see what needs to be done, take the bullets out in front of the impossible, and pray, fast, and take action until it comes to pass. Prays and intercedes for the congregation as an over-shepard and advisor to the Pastor.
TEACHER – A deep student of the word. Has an anointing to make biblical concepts simple, practical, and applicable. Lover of theology, apologetics, and has a deep hunger to know the Word at such a level that it can become understood by all.
WHERE IS IT IN THE BIBLE?
Mentioned in Ephesians 4:11-13, Paul writes: “It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers” (Eph 4:11)
“To prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12-13)
- People who have the five-fold ministry gifts often work and feel called to ministry.
- Their purpose is to build up Christians from babies to mature individuals.
- To help spread the Gospel and the knowledge of Christ.
- To bring unity and help people with their faith.
Sound like you? Awesome! You may have one of these gifts. Doesn’t sound like you? That’s okay! You have amazing gifts, and we’re SO close to you finding out, just keep reading!
WHY THIS MATTERS:
- There’s something really healing and fulfilling about finding out more of how God made you.
- When you know who God called you to be, you can research it further to walk in a greater maturity of that gift.
- When you find your gifts, it enables you to stand firm and use your voice, because confidence speaks!
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
So here we are at the END! We did it! You did it!!!
And now I know you’re burning to know… what the heck are your gifts?
See you all tomorrow for my official “signing off!”
