Week 1 • Day 2 • Ponder

“And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”
Genesis 1:2 (NIV)

I’m not sure how I missed such a monster revelation. Maybe I was skimming or doing that thing where your eyes are reading, but your mind is thinking about taquitos.

But it wasn’t until just recently when I discovered the significance of Genesis 1:2. The Holy Spirt played an active role in creating all life on earth as we know it.

And not only was the Holy Spirit an operative in creating the world, he also plays an active role in maintaining it! (Isaiah 40:7, See Reference)

Maybe I’m alone in this, but I’ve never, ever (not once!) stayed up all night with the hot sweats because I feared the sun had disappeared and would never rise again.

Maybe I’m weird, but it’s never even crossed my mind.

But why not?

I guess, intuitively, I have faith that the Holy Spirit will give me, will give all of us, the precious sun every single day, because it’s a basic need. God hasn’t let me down yet.

So, I have to wonder—why am I so trusting of God to use His Holy Spirit to renew my day with the morning sun, but not renew my heart? My finances? My dream? My relationships? My [fill in the blank here].

If there’s an area of your life you aren’t trusting God to renew—hand it over to Him to wipe clean and start fresh. Trust Him.

Give it a try.

Expect the sun to rise in your life. And it will.
