Week 1 • Day 4 • Memorize

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2 (NIV)

There was a tweet from actress Patricia Heaton that read “If you’re a commonsense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in the world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.”

She’s right. When the world seems to have lost their minds, we aren’t supposed to lose our mind with it. Suspicion, bitterness, resentment, anger, revenge, fear, worry … those are worldly thoughts and feelings from a mind that doesn’t trust a loving God and thinks it needs to take matters into its own hands.

The worst part is that ungodly thoughts will make your mind the most insufferable roommate. And that’s a real problem because our mind goes everywhere we go, there’s no way around it. God wants us to live in joy and peace, no matter our circumstances. It starts with letting God direct our fearful thoughts into love-centered, gratitude-centered thoughts.

Consider meditating and memorizing Romans 12:2 so that when the world tries to make you conform, you can choose to be transformed instead.

And I bet it will be so good. So acceptable. And so perfect.
